The 140 character restriction keeps it short and viable - comments can go on and on... But in answer I'm currently liking Tweetie on Mac and iPhone and bit.ly for URL shortening. Also I post images through Twitpic and Skitch. But that's me. I'd resist using my use of Twitter as something to be generalized. There are no "best" clients - just ones that are right for you at this moment. Thankfully you can switch very easily. And now I'm in danger of turning this into an essay.
