Favourite Things – ephemera

Thanks to everyone who came to my Favourite Things talk at the Ikon Gallery. Fairly full room which was nice.

Here’s a pic from the back from John:

And here’s myself and Kate Self, my interrogator, taken by Fiona.

Rebecca Small was doing the tootin on the Ikon’s Twitter. Here’s a screen grab of her interpretation of my witterings (in reverse order, obviously):

Nice to see Eric Kleptone himself picking up on the error, though please be assured I did say “Eric” and the audio will back me up. while Eric probably just had a “Kleptones” search open in his Tweetdeck but the intervention was smile inducing.

At the end a lady asked for Kate’s copy of the presentation but she’d scribbled all over it so I said I’d upload a copy. Here it is.

Pete Ashton’s Favourite Things talk at Ikon Galley

A nice gentleman with long hair, I think from BCU, was recording the event and promised to send me an mp3 so I’ll merge it with the slides when I get it. And then you too can hear why these things are my favourites.

Again, thanks to everyone who came. While there were some of the usual suspects in the audience it was great to see a whole load of people I didn’t recognise. And above all it was great fun, which is the important thing.

Thanks also to Kate Self (who turned out to be a bit of a psychogeographer with an interest in Digbeth) for stepping in at the last minute and expertly marshaling my nonsense and the Ikon itself for asking me. It was an honour. A strange and disconcerting honour but an honour all the same.

  1. Isn’t most of what we do in life, strange and disconcerting? ;-)

    Only the good things.
