Step 1) On a dry day, preferably after a series of dry days, take your relatively dry wood and store it in a dry place. I’ve been using a fence panel resting against the fence as a makeshift lean-to and an unused compost bin. If you are in possession of an actual woodshed then, hell, you don’t need this guide.
Step 2) If you have a brazier you can skip this step. If you do not have a brazier place a sheet of some kind – wood or metal is good – over the area in which you plan to have the bonfire. This is to keep it clear of snow.
Step 3) Wait for snow.
Step 4) On the occasion of a significant amount of snow go to your fire pit. Knock the snow off the brazier or remove the covering, as is your preference.
Step 5) Place a cardboard box full of rolled up newspaper in the middle of your brazier / pit. The box is to prevent the paper from getting damp.
Step 6) Make your usual bonfire arrangement of wood around the box as is your preference.
Step 7) Set fire to the fucker.

Lovely! Don’t miss the cold, but do miss a good bonfire!
